General Information
About 73 km of mud, gravel, sand, sawdust, switchbacks, mudpits, potholes, rocks, washouts and, yes, smooth pavement have been in preparation all winter for the annual Paris-Roubaix Cyclosportif.
As always, Paris-Roubaix pavé trophies will be awarded to the first man and the first woman. Euro-sports.ca has generously donated a door prize.
Any kind of bicycle may be used provided it is safe. However, the mixture of pavement and junk roads usually makes a cyclocross or touring bike with fat touring tires the best choice. There are a couple of steep hills so low gears can be handy.
This is a self supported ride without motorized assistance, so everyone must carry at least two spare tubes (or tubulars) and a working pump to enter. A patch kit and an extra tire are also highly recommended. Make sure that your water bottles are held securely by their cages on rough roads. There is only a single store along the route so plan accordingly.
Please check Cyclocross.org for any last minute race changes.
Entry Requirements
There are some special things you should know before entering, because of the nature of this event:
- Rules of the Road - This is a cyclosportif event not a race. As a result, all rules of the Highway Traffic Act will apply at all times to all riders, including stopping at stop signs. Riders must wear an approved helmet.
- Motorized Support - We are unable to provide motorized support. The event gets very strung out and support vehicles cannot pass some sections of the route.
- Route Markers - While arrows will be posted marking the route, we cannot guarantee that they have not been damaged or removed by weather conditions or vandals. All riders will be given a map and are responsible for their own navigation.

Eligibility
Day licences will NOT be available. To enter you must either have an OCA 2008 Ontario Citizens' Permit (they will be available at registration, please leave extra time if you need to purchase one) or a 2008 UCI licence (which must be acquired through the Ontario Cycling Association in advance). Licence holders must present their licence when registering.
