The Saturday ride program will again feature rides with remote start points. It in the first weekend in May and go through until the end of September. We will miss a few Saturdays as there is a conflict with other club events. This schedule is listed in the OBC Calendar or on the Saturday Tour Schedule page.
Again this year, there will usually be a choice of ride distance with a longer route of 100-140 kms and a shorter choice of 75-95 kms. The Saturday rides are designed for the more experienced and stronger riders and are not intended for Rambler riders. A Touring 1 group will only be organized if the numbers are sufficient . Naturally, the longer route requires a minimum of Touring 2 ability. All riders will be expected to have taken one of our free Group Riding Clinics on their first outing regardless of their cycling skills.
The starting points are usually within a 30-45 minute drive from the city. Check Departure Locations for details. However, this year we have included a few (about once a month) starts which will require a 1-1 1/4 hour drive. Be aware, because of the driving distance, the ride may be cancelled due to inclement weather, i.e. weather report with over 60% possibility of precipitation. Unfortunately, this is very difficult to pin down in advance.
The Saturday rides often include a restaurant lunch stop. Alternately, there is usually a store nearby for those who prefer to purchase a snack. Of course, as in any ride, it is always a good idea to carry a few of your own favourite snacks.
