Once again the OBC will visit the Lake Placid area in late summer. This is a great area to ride a bike, with layered green hills, rushing streams and lots of quiet country roads. If that isn't enough a change of speed can be had by bringing your hiking boots - the hiking is terrific too! The sleepy town of Lake Placid is nearby as well. We stay in a rustic motel in Wilmington at the foot of Mt. Whiteface.
We plan for a variety of distances and include breakfasts and dinners. This is the great opportunity to ride/hike then socialize around the pool with the mountains as a backdrop. There is a shop across the street from the accommodation that sells homemade chocolate. Does it get better than this?
The total cost per person at the Holiday Lodge in Wilmington is CA $160.00 based on double occupancy. It includes 2 nights accommodation - 2 persons per room, 2 full breakfasts and 1 dinner, maps and camaraderie.
