For Tour Safety and the enjoyment of all, this RLCT Code of Conduct describes how we expect the cyclist to behave and act on the tour.

RLCT CODE OF CONDUCT

The RLCT requires cyclists to:

  1. Abide by the laws of the road and in particular obey all traffic road signs and signalling lights.

  2. Follow these procedures for your own safety and the safety of all:

  • Keep groups to 12 cyclists or less. Merging into super-groups can be dangerous.

  • Be respectful of motorists and normal traffic flow.

  • Pass only when it is safe to do so.

  • Ride 2 abreast only.

  • Keep to the right side of the road without crossing the yellow line.

  • Signal your turns (as you would in a car) so others know your intentions.

  1. Respect all road users by:

  • Stopping for emergency vehicles.

  • Pulling aside for funeral processions.

  • Signalling your turns so others know your intentions.

  • Warning adults and children of your presence in a respectful manner.

  • Being a good 'Cycling Ambassador', even when you become fatigued and stressed, by showing respect for other motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

  1. Respect people’s property by using the appropriate facilities to empty your bladder.

  2. Respect the decisions of Tour Officials and other Persons of Authority without gesture or argument.
