Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour 2012 – Call for Volunteers
Posted February 29th, 2012 by adminThe Ottawa Bicycle Club takes great pride in sponsoring the Rideau Lakes Cycle Tour, the most complex and demanding event on its calendar. It is regarded by many as the best of its kind in Canada, attracting approximately two thousand local, national and international participants.
The RLCT is a 41-year old success story, a testimony to its quality and popularity! Since the first tour in 1972, this fabulous ride rolls out every year with the help of dedicated volunteers.
Volunteers are essential.

Northumberland Tour
Posted February 20th, 2012 by adminThe Northumberland Tour is once again returning to Breakers on the Lake in Cobourg set for the long weekend in May. We are keeping the same basic format and capacity, with a pre-packaged selection of route maps. This will give us more time to get the actual rides organized and make sure that everyone has a suitable group to ride with.

Here is your excuse to keep in shape over the winter months. This trip offers a range of cycling options for the recreational cyclist to the most hard core. You will be able to select rides each day of 20 km on rolling terrain to 150 km in the mountains, a little something for everyone.

Upcoming Social - Wednesday, February 15th : Presentation by Allison Lampi
Posted February 9th, 2012 by adminAllison Lampi (Infinit Nutrition/Cyclepower Women's Cycling Team), will speak passionately about women's cycling at the regional and international level. After attending this session, you will have gained a perspective from a local rider and team manager (and OBC member), with examples from local and international experiences (with input from a number of local female riders), on the challenges, opportunities and successes of the current women's bike racing scene. Doors open at the Naval Officers' Mess at 7:00pm. Cost is $3 per person for use of the facility. Inexpensive cash bar. All are welcome including non-OBC guests.
